At Ambrose we offer contemporary cuisine prepared with seasonal, locally sourced products, combined with a fusion of ingredients from our motherland. We serve creative plates that are designed for sharing, and are brought to the table at a comfortable and steady pace throughout the meal. The plates are served in our elegant dining room featuring a fireplace and overlooks our historic downtown. During warm weather, our diners are also welcome to enjoy our lovely garden patio and dine al fresco.
We offer a fine selection of wine, beer, craft cocktails, and delectable plates. We invite you to spend a leisurely afternoon or evening in one of our comfortable spaces.
Ambrose Restaurant is named after an Exeter philanthropist, Ambrose Swasey, who was an important figure in Exeter’s rich history. We encourage you to explore our quaint town and look forward to welcoming you to Ambrose!
Our hours are from Wednesday through Saturday 4PM to 9PM and Sunday 4PM to 8PM.

Stanley Arnoldo Orantes, Executive Chef
Chef Stanley has blended the high standards of the Inn by introducing the sophisticated and creative cuisine served at Ambrose. While working at some of the top restaurants in Boston, such as Ostra, Cultivar and Ecco, as sous-chef de cuisine, assistant pastry chef and executive chef, Stanley has never forgotten his roots; reminding his admirers that his mother and grand-mother are his greatest teachers. With a passion for desserts, he has completed the Creative Plated Desserts and the Avante-Garde Desserts, conducted by the Chocolate Academy.
